Eastern Avenue Is the Next Vegan Destination

Craving some vegan food near the I-215/Eastern Avenue corridor? You’re in luck. This little swath near the Las Vegas/Henderson border is home to a thriving vegan dining scene, thanks to new additions.

First, VegeNation (10075 S. Eastern Ave., vegenationlv.com) opened its doors at the end of September. The all-vegan restaurant known for its global street food and fostering of community culture brings its Downtown vibe to Henderson with its second location. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, VegeNation’s latest spot not only marks the first completely vegan restaurant in the area, but also an updated menu (for both locations) that includes a green tea kelp noodle salad, mushroom pasta, apple cobbler dessert (you must order this) and even a CBD-infused hot tea.

Down the street, Hummus (10895 S. Eastern Ave., hummusbowls.com) also started service at the end of last month. The Mediterranean-inspired fast-casual restaurant features non-GMO, locally-sourced ingredients to create bowls and wraps filled with goodness. Pick your grain, lettuce, hummus (there are four types, including two bean-free varieties), then load on all of those veggies, protein (falafel or market-roasted veggies) and sauces. This bright joint doesn’t even have a freezer on property, which means all of the ingredients are fresh, fresh, fresh. These healthy (and delicious) meals won’t hurt your wallet either; most come in under $10 for the wholesome eats. Crowd favorites so far are the fennel and apple slaw, quinoa tabouli and house-pickled onions.

Other spots worth checking out on Eastern Avenue that offer vegan options include Greens and Proteins, Vegan Bites (which recently expanded their menu, too), ProteinHouse, Burger Joint, Matcha House Tea and Sweets and the farmers market every Sunday featuring tons of vegan food.

Want to stuff your face all day? Head north on Eastern Avenue and swing by the Vegan Village at Sunset Park’d Food Truck and Micro Brew Festival on Saturday, Nov. 4 from noon-9 p.m. Vegas VegFest and Compassion Works International have curated an impressive line-up of vegan options including Pancho’s Kitchen, VegeWay North (serving Perfect Scoop ice cream), Purple Potato, Southern Fried Vegan, Heather Foods, Cakewalk Baking Company, Simply Pure and more. Entry into the Vegan Village is free.
